Communications Contractor

50+1 Strategies is looking for a part-time Communications Contractor to join our Campaigns team for the 2024 cycle.  We operate at the local, state, and national levels to elect Democratic candidates, advance progressive issues at the ballot box, and support causes that create positive change.

Our team is made up of diverse professionals who have demonstrated success in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.  We pride ourselves on being a full-service civic engagement firm that brings heart and hustle to everything we do.  We aim to build both issue and electoral campaigns that reflect the communities around them, empower and strengthen volunteer leadership, and engage people in a meaningful way.  We have worked with inspiring clients such as Planned Parenthood, Reproductive Freedom for All, Everytown for Gun Safety, and the ACLU, as well as trailblazing candidates like Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator Cory Booker, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Katie Porter, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Dallet, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu and California Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, to name a few.  We have built organizing programs for industry leaders in the corporate and tech spaces and designed trainings for critical issue-based organizations, such as Everytown for Gun Safety and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

As a Communications Contractor, your primary responsibility will be to work with our team of strategists to draft and edit written content, including candidate emails, op-eds, press releases, talking points, mailers, and more.  Additional work may include identifying, recruiting, and training speakers for political events, press conference setup and management, and preparing reports for clients.  The Communications Contractor reports directly to the Director of Communications and will work closely with our Campaigns, Creative, and Marketing teams.
