50+1 Strategies is a California-based political consulting and civic engagement firm. We operate at the local, state, and national levels to elect Democratic leaders into public office, advance important issues at the ballot box, and support causes that create positive change. The Marketing Associate (full-time, temporary) Position

  • As a 50+1’s Marketing Associate (full-time, temporary), your primary responsibility will be to work directly with and report to  the VP of Marketing to help manage and produce marketing and advertising programs (both digital and analogue/traditional). 
  • You’ll be working on multiple clients simultaneously, and have the opportunity to work with the senior staff of 50+1, as well as laterally with other associates/downward with fellows and (full-time, temporary)s, to shape the strategic direction of our marketing and advertising efforts. 
  • You will serve a jack-of-all-trades role within the Marketing Departments and will be critical to the success of our clients– be it a small ad  buy for a political client, a major ballot initiative out-of-state, or a multi-state paid media project for a national client.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reaching out to direct buy vendors to identify pricing, placements, KPI’s and contractual terms for media buys in print, television, radio, DOOH/OOH, experiential and support programmatic, high impact video and sponsored media inquiries.
  • Responsible for uploading all in-house ads (search, social, YouTube) as well as learning latest news/trends impacting those ad channels (i.e. Meta’s political ads ban).
  • Support the VP of Marketing’s work with clients and advertising agencies to plan, monitor and execute media buys.
  • Communicate with clients on a daily basis regarding program performance and reporting updates, as well as build and manage internal and external reports and monitor various ads’ performance.
  • Execute and track RFPs and IOs for media buys.
  • Update budgets and track ad spending. 
  • Will prepare and send previews of advertisements to clients.
  • Monitor market trends and data to help VP forecast opportunities/threats.
  • Helps develop ideas for campaigns, and liaises with creative and comms teams to ensure timely delivery of creative deliverables.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and/or minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience or 3-5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a formal education.
  • Demonstrated high-quality writing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Strong visual design skills and understanding how design is used to communicate via advertising campaigns. 
  • Good sense of color theory, typography, and/or visual layout concepts, as well as understanding of content, themes and impact on audiences/viewers.
  • Creative thinker, with ability to understand and dissect data and communicate insights in a digestible way.
  • Familiarity with or commitment to learn key ad programs and get relevant certifications (Google Ads, SEM Rush, Facebook Ads, etc.)
  • Tech and pop-culture savvy and have a passion to learn new marketing and advertising programs and systems.
  • Superior time management, planning, organizational, and relationship building skills, as well as followthrough. 
  • Self aware and constantly identifies ways to improve their skills.
  • Self-directed with the drive to take initiative on new projects, but collaborative and able to seek guidance and direction from manager/others where necessary.
  • Comfortable collaborating, operating and contributing a positive attitude in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds and think strategically about how to motivate people towards your clients’ causes
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Details and Compensation

  • This is a full-time, exempt, temporary position, ending in November of 2024, and includes the opportunity to work in our beautiful, skyline office with the San Francisco team, 1-2 days a week, if based in Bay Area dental and, healthcare benefits.
  • Compensation ranges from $60,000-$70,000/year, DOE,.
  • This position is scheduled to run from 7/1/24 – 11/30/24
